As of December 2020, New River Gorge National River became New River Gorge National Park, the 63rd park to be added to the National Park roster! This region has been a nature preserve since 1977, but Congress recently upgraded the park to give it further protection. Located in West Virginia, the gem of the park is the New River Gorge Steel Bridge, which was built in 1977. The bridge is an incredible feat of engineering and a work of art!
